Crown Forklift

Crown is a forklift manufacturing company that has a pretty wide variety of designs. Most of them don't look anything like what you'd think a traditional forklift would look like. As compared to most of the other companies, Crown Forklift doesn't really have that many "traditional" models. That's not necessarily a bad thing, however. Most of their designs are unique and tailored to specific situations and ways in which you'd need to lift stuff - they're particularly good about having forklifts with extra reach so that you can get stuff from higher up.

Crown Forklifts

Crown has a couple of benefits over the other major companies. Their narrow-aisle forklifts are designed with height in mind. Specifically, if you want to store stuff at a greater height (and thus get more storage space out of the same area), look at their 5200 series of "Narrow Aisle Reach Trucks." They're basically thin forklifts designed so that they can fit down narrower storage aisles, but they add to this a height extension. That means you can leave less space between storage aisles and also build upward. In terms of efficiency, those are great advantages to have in any storage operation. Crown also bills them as having the fasted speed of any reach truck. They're still slower than many traditional forklift designs, but speed isn't really the greatest priority for this kind of machine. You don't buy a narrow aisle lift to make long trips - you buy it to get in and out of the aisles.

They've got a number of other specialized designs that you can get a lot of advantage out of. Tow tractors are a good way to move a pallet once you've gotten it down - they pull it behind them instead of pushing it. They've also got vehicles designed to replace ladders for stocking, etc. - maybe more useful in stores, but still a good idea. The Wave is their main product on this front.

You can either go to a Crown dealer to get a new product or get them online used:

Crown's website is here, and it's pretty good. It's got detailed information on all the products and also information on training programs (something I haven't seen with most companies) as well as parts purchasing.
